We all know that, to a certain extent, our activities and habits are monitored –hence the annoying ad pop-ups just after we've visited a website. On the other hand, we are also able to monitor ourselves and our activities to a greater extent through step, food and activity trackers to become more aware of our lifestyle.
Now there is a third hand coming in which the user will be notified as to exactly who is tracking their activity.
This could allow us to derive value from our data in that we would be able to sell our own intellectual property, or even the data regarding our activities, to companies that rely on such information for marketing. Data is the new oil and the world is becoming increasingly reliant on it, so why shouldn't we be able to sell something that is so highly demanded?
It will allow us to become the masters of our own digital footprint.
