WhatsApp has evolved rapidly from being a simple message service to so much more allowing users to personalise their experiences. WhatsApp has recently added two new features for those who use multiple communication options through the app. The first is the addition of the group description feature for the beta version of Android last month. This is useful for users who tend to communicate with their contacts through multiple groups and help differentiate the purpose of groups for specific events or projects.
Here's how to do it:
Step 1: Make sure you are using the latest version of WhatsApp on your smartphone. Android users can download the updated version of WhatsApp from the Play Store. iPhone users, on the other hand, will be able to download the latest update to WhatsApp by visiting the App Store.
Step 2: Open WhatsApp on your smartphone
Step 3: Tap on the group name you would like to add a description
Step 4: Go to the “Group Info” section of the group on the right-hand corner
Step 5: Tap on the “Description” section right below the name of the group
Step 6: Add or change the group’s description. The group description is visible to all members of the group and people invited to the group. The description can be as long as 512 characters. WhatsApp for Android also allows users to search for a participant from the group info window.
The second feature allows users to switch between video and voice call features during a call. While the user is in a call, a button for the video call option will show on the screen meaning that the user won't have to end the call in order to switch to a video call. When the user wants to switch from a voice to a video call, it will send a video request to the person on the other end of the call to accept. If the other user accepts, the call will switch to video and if the user declines, the call continues as normal.
These new features are available on the latest Whatsapp versions for iPhone and Android.
