If you have ever wanted to add a couch to your living room or a bookshelf to your study, you would know that all the measurements and comparisons don't necessarily guarantee that your new furniture addition will fit in. The combination of augmented reality and 3D models has fixed the problem. It allows you to place a piece of furniture into your virtual room to give you an idea of how the furniture would fit into the current layout of the room – which is perfect for rearranging or even starting from scratch.
Once the app is downloaded, it asks you to scan the floor using your camera. Once the scan is complete, the app allows you to choose from several different resizable objects that you are able to place in any location that you point your camera and it allows you to adjust the angle and size of the object. If you want to get rid of the furniture you have placed, you can click on the delete option or use the extra fun "natural disaster" option that will sweep away your virtual furniture via tornado. But if you choose to keep the layout that you designed, the app can save it to your phone and allows you to adjust it later if needs be.
It allows you to walk into a furniture shop without any deliberation and know that you need a 2 by 2 metre coffee table with the absolute confidence that it will fit in your living room.
It is currently available on the Apple store at no charge and is not yet available on ios
