YouTube is testing showing how many people are currently watching the same video, and this could help you tell when a YouTube video is becoming viral!
According to Android Police, who was the first to spot this test, YouTube seems to be testing a new feature that will display concurrent viewer accounts. This feature gives you an insight on how many people are watching the same video at the same time.
It seems, for now, that the test is only live for select Android users. The count appears under the title of the video where the overall view count would normally appear (look at the photo to see). It looks the same as it does when you watch a live video on mobile apps, but this time, it works on regular uploads!
This new feature could potentially be an incredibly useful tool for creators of YouTube videos as it will give you a better idea of when your video is racking up hits. In addition, users and viewers will be able to use this number to tell when a video is gaining attention – or it could just appease the mere curiosity or whether anyone in a far away corner of the Internet is watching the same thing you are watching.
Now it's just a matter of finding out whether the feature will be making a wider rollout...
