Facebook is introducing a new feature that will make every user excited, or not... Facebook is gradually adding a built-in Graphic Interchange Format (GIF) creator to the Facebook camera app.
To use the GIF feature in the Facebook camera app, all you have to do is swipe left to access the camera and you will see the options to record your own GIF at the top of the screen. The animated GIFs that you create will only last a few seconds, but the image can be anything you have in front of you. There will be access to a broad range of fun effects and frames to personalise your GIF – if you do choose to do so.
At this time the new feature is only available to a handful of iOS Facebook users, no Android users have reported that they have the new feature available on their Facebook Photo App yet. With the popularity of GIFs growing on all major social platforms it is very likely that this option will be available to all Android users in the near future.
Until now, Facebook allowed GIFs from GIF banks like Giphy and Tenor, and with the new ability to create your own GIFs, you can expect more GIFs seen on the social media app. These new features can offer a complete camera experience to the users and prove a big threat to Snapchat which is known for its filters and camera abilities.
