Data is a major money drainer and the price of data is ridiculous. This has led to people either spending thousands on data to get them through the month or turning their phones on aeroplane mode when they are out in an effort to save the little data they do have.
Google has created a data saving and monitoring app that allows users track their usage and check which apps run in the background and chow unnecessary data. Datally is available at no cost on the Google Play Store and has been proven to cut down data usage by 30%.
Most users have to budget their data and rely on Wi–Fi most of the time. Datally shows which apps are running in the background, allows you stop those apps and has a system that relies on your location setting which notifies the user of nearby hotspots that they would be able to use to connect to the internet without using their data. Other users are also able to rate the Wi–Fi network. The app tracks your data usage apps in real–time and blocks the app's data usage as well as tracking your data usage trends over time. In certain countries, users are able to SMS a certain number that will report back on your data balance and give you personalized tips to reduce your data usage.
The app was launched as a test in the Philippines where it got half a million downloads. It works on Android smartphones with Lollipop 5.0 or with more recent versions of the Google–based mobile operating system.
Being data–smart could really save you some big bucks!
